Ascentis are delighted to sponsor this year's NATECLA National Conference 2023

As the leading awarding organisation for ESOL qualifications in the UK, we are thrilled to announce our participation in this year's NATECLA National Conference 2023. This esteemed conference brings together educators, professionals, and organisations dedicated to the field of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Taking place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th June, the event promises to be an exceptional platform for sharing ideas, promoting best practices, and advancing the delivery of ESOL education across the country.

NATECLA, the National Association for Teaching English and Community Languages to Adults, shares a mutual commitment with Ascentis to providing high-quality ESOL education to individuals across the UK. Both organisations recognise the significance of promoting language skills and empowering individuals with the ability to communicate effectively and integrate into society.

United Colleges Group and Ascentis Workshop

During the conference, Ascentis will host a workshop in collaboration with the United Colleges Group, Maida Vale Campus, City of Westminster.

This workshop provides an insight into the design, implementation and impact of the Ascentis qualifications in Volunteering to Support English Language Teaching and Learning, specifically in the learners’ own organisational context. It aims to describe a learner-centred approach in developing resources, schemes of work and assessments for learning tasks that have shown to be effective and how these can be replicated in other learning contexts. Success stories of the progression of learners and the building of a portfolio of evidence will also be shared.

The workshop is called Engaging Learners in Volunteering to Support in the ELT Classroom: A Learner Driven Approach - Esther Chelliah-Tam (United Colleges Group). Further information on the Ascentis Level 1 and Level 2 Awards in Volunteering to Support English Language Teaching and Learning can be found here. The workshop will take place Saturday 24th June 10:45am - 11:45am. Find out more here.

Teachmeet 2023

Ascentis are the proud sponsor of the Teachmeet at the NATECLA Conference 2023, a gathering that highlights the significance of sharing ideas and best practices in the ESOL community. The Teachmeet is a series of short, 3-minute informal presentations where ESOL tutors share their most effective teaching ideas. The Teachmeet offers a platform for educators to collaborate, exchange experiences, and explore new teaching methods. Ascentis recognises the importance of this event in fostering an environment of continuous improvement and growth in the delivery of ESOL education nationwide. By supporting The Teachmeet, we reinforce our commitment to empowering teachers and enhancing the learning experience for ESOL students. The Teachmeet will take place on Friday 23 June at 4pm; find out more information by clicking here.
