Ascentis is passionate about protecting the environment and we have been proud to support initiatives and deliver qualifications that help to protect our planet now and in the future.
Now is the time for making changes towards a sustainable future for our planet, and education is at the heart of making those changes happen. For the UK to meet the Government’s target of Net Zero emissions by 2050 and to reduce the global impacts of climate change, education and action need to go hand in hand.
We have prioritised the issue of sustainability and climate change by enhancing our offer to help more learners gain an understanding of the key concepts that will empower them to make informed choices and decisions when it comes to the environment.
The UK Government has prioritised the Net Zero Strategy: Build Back Greener, and part of this initiative is to support up to 440,000 jobs across net zero industries by 2030 (Net Zero Strategy: Build Back Greener, October 2021). This vision of a sustainable future requires individuals to gain the knowledge and skills that will equip them for careers in the green skills workforce.
We have heard from centres that they are eager to support learners to build the knowledge and skills that will help them to live more sustainably and be able to apply for green jobs. Not only have we listened but we have made supporting centres and learners a priority.
We have enhanced our offer by:
This guide acts a toolkit for learners to increase their awareness of sustainability. It explains the key issues that threaten the future, such as climate change, and provides information about the steps we can take to reduce environmental damage. Learners will create their own action plan and feel empowered by the positive changes they are making, even the small ones.
This is a free resource available to all our centres, and its adaptability means that it can be completed individually or as a tutor-led activity.

This unit provides theoretical underpinning to the principals behind retrofit surveying, installation and evaluation.
