Ascentis Level 5 Diploma in Teaching - apply for approval now!
We are delighted to announce that centres can now apply for approval for our new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills)! Click here to view the qualification specification.
This new qualification replaces the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) and registrations commenced 1st September 2024. This development signals a significant shift in the landscape of teaching qualifications within the Further Education and Skills (FES) sector.
Aligned with the Occupational Standards for the Learning and Skills Teacher, the new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) has been meticulously crafted to cater to the evolving needs of educators seeking comprehensive teaching credentials for the Further Education and Skills sector (FES). Developed in response to national advancements, this qualification adheres to the framework outlined by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF).
Key Features:
- Structure: Five mandatory units with optional units, offering learners a personalised pathway
- Practice Requirements: 250 hours of placement, including 150 hours of teaching practice, emphasising subject specialisation and holistic teaching experience.
Learners completing this qualification can apply for 'Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills' (QTLS) status and can pursue Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) for teaching in post-compulsory education.
All centres will require a new approval to run this L5 qualification as it is different to the Education and Training suite. To request approval, please complete the application form here.
