Anita has taught various subjects, with STEM being the main focus, in both FE Colleges and schools for 9 years. She is now a Product Development Manager at Ascentis specialising in Maths.

What does Colleges Week mean to you?
To celebrate and promote the value of colleges in furthering education for many learners and also recognising tutors for all the important and essential work they do
What is your most rewarding experience with a College?
Being able to support a new learner who was very nervous and lacked confidence to complete the course and then progress onto university. She received a special recognition award from the college for overcoming her difficulties and I was one of her tutors mentioned by her when she collected the award.
What advice would you give to new teachers in Colleges?
We all know the pressures of teaching but it is really worth taking the time to really getting to know your students. It will help with your teaching and make it a better experience for both you and the learners.
What would you stay to learners thinking about going to College?
Do it! Don’t be afraid to ask for support, there will be many other people in a similar position to you.
