Our Day Volunteering at Wolfwood Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre

On Thursday 19th December Ascentis Fun Fundraisers Joanne Schofield, Becky Cody, Kirsty Sherrington, Amber Eastwood and Caitlynn Hodgson went to volunteer at Wolfwood, a local independent Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation of Rescued Dogs centre, Valley View on behalf of Ascentis.

Below is an account of their day by Joanne Schofield:

We arrived early at 8.30am and were put straight to work after signing in and meeting two previous Wolfwood dogs that had been adopted by workers.

Our first job was to muck out lots of rescued ponies. This involved skipping out stables, muck heap runs and feeding them.

Amber was then invited to help feed a rescued tame Kestrel.

Next we met all the gorgeous dogs that are waiting to find their forever homes. We had the pleasure of being able to take the dogs on a longer walk than usual. They were all so well behaved and of course they loved every minute of the walk and our attention.

We were then asked to help clean out all the hedgehog cages. This was tricky as we needed to move the hedgehogs safely out of their cages (without getting pricked!) and into a safe place whilst we cleaned their cages and then put them back.

Our last activity was to take another set of friendly loving dogs for a walk around the grounds of Valley View.

Throughout the day we were given tours around the centre and we were amazed by the sheer volume of wildlife and animals that they cared so well for.

We all really enjoyed volunteering for this centre. If you have any spare time please go and volunteer!
